Why Kids Love Bippo's Place! |
|
|
![]() From the moment children walk in the door, they know they're someplace special. Someplace fun. They're greeted warmly and invited into our play area, where there are toys, video games and special contests to keep them happy. Once they get to our comfortable dental chairs, we keep them relaxed with a joke, a smile and a hand to hold. Dentists and kids are on a first-name basis with one another. And our dentists speak kids' language. When they talk about dental care with your child, they'll never use scary words like "shots", "drill", "anesthesia," "X-rays" or "cavities." Instead they'll use child friendly words like "sleepy-juice," "taking pictures" or "tooth bugs." They'll also use the latest numbing techniques
to ensure our care is very gentle. In fact, many kids say they hardly
even notice injections because they are so gentle. Plus after their
visit, your child will get a prize for being such a good, brave patient.
Parents always get to choose.
We care for teenage smiles,
too.
So we make teens feel right at home. There's
a separate waiting room (with a Play Station and other computer games)
and treatment area for teens at most of our offices, so they don't have
to hang out with the little kids. And they get the same friendly,
gentle care that our smallest patients get.
Your child's safety is important
And don't worry about bringing in very
young or very nervous children. That's what we're specially trained for.
Cleanings: TICKLE STICK - Disclosing solution on a cotton swab that helps us see where the patient needs to brush better MR. THIRSTY - A suction or vacuum that drinks up all the toothpaste MAGIC STRING - Dental floss TOOTH MUSCLES - Fluoride TOOTH MIRROR - Small mouth mirror TOOTH COUNTER - Explorer that is used by the doctor to find cavities PICTURES - X-rays of the teeth TOOTH BUGS (Cavity bugs or Sugar
Bugs) - decay in the tooth which requires removal. Decay is the
breakdown of the hard enamel and dentin of the tooth caused by acids from
a diet that includes a lot of sugar or starches or improper brushing
habits.
Operative Visits: HAPPY AIR - our term for the Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas. This comes from our "Bippo the Hippo Nose" and helps your child relax while his/her tooth is being put to sleep. SLEEPY JUICE - our anesthesia used to numb your child's tooth. We never use words like shot or needle. We simply squirt sleepy juice all around their tooth, and explain to your child that they may feel tiny little pinches around their tooth as it drifts off to sleep. If they are really quiet, they may hear the tooth snore! TOOTH RAINCOAT - a rubber dam that isolates the tooth we are working on, keeping it dry and keeping all the cavity bugs from falling into the child's mouth while Mr. Whistle blows them away. TOOTH RING - a small clamp that hugs your child's tooth and holds their tooth raincoat on. MR. WIGGLE - our high speed dental hand piece that whistles real loud and blows all the cavity bugs out of the teeth. MR. BUMPY - our slow speed dental
handpick that bumps all around their tooth and tickles the cavity bugs
away.
